In the attempt to distinguish one day from the next, I offer a list of noteworthy things that caught my attention today: 1) the conversation I overheard on the subway between two women, incredible to me for the ease and apparent random quality with which they switched back and forth between English to Spanish (how tired I get of speaking only one language all the time!); 2) the way Zephyr stayed glued to the bed this morning, because of his incredible love for a particular blanket; 3) the incredibly searing guitar solo by Dean Wareham at the end of ‘Listen, The Snow Is Falling’ on the Galaxie 500 album This Is Our Music; 4) the incredible ease with which I managed to clear a clogged drain after work in the tenants’ bathroom with no more than a box of baking soda and a plunger; 5) the incredible taste of the salmon that Stephen cooked on the grill, basted in a mix of Jack Daniels and maple syrup; 6) the incredible sweetness of the corn and the skewered zucchini and vidalia onions, also cooked on the grill; 7) the incredible joy I felt when the D-train caught the C at 125th Street on my way home; 8) the incredibly annoying ticket we received from the Department of Sanitation for having ‘one piece of unsoiled paper’ mixed in with the recyclables (this an incredible lie); 9) the incredibly dispiriting nature of the news with regard to the Democratic Party’s failure to pass meaningful legislation in the realm of ____;

and 10) the incredibly beautiful lights of the George Washington Bridge, despite the certainty that they will be there tomorrow.
