A Short Play about Fear and Insomnia

Dante: I’m actually not at all worried about flying snakes.

Zephyr: Good, because I’m trying to sleep.

Dante: I mean, maybe I’m a little worried — because, seriously, flying snakes? — but at least I’m not as worried as Elektra. I mean, I’m not neurotic about it, like her. Don’t you think she goes a bit overboard? Sometimes I just want to tell her to calm down and not worry so much about flying snakes. Honestly, if you’re going to get munched on like a cheese and cracker by a flying snake, there’s only so much you can do it about it, right?

Zephyr: I was actually on the verge of falling asleep a few minutes ago, actually. Just so you know.

Dante: Speaking of Elektra, I haven’t seen her in a while, have you? It’s kind of quiet in here, don’t you think? Flying snakes don’t make a lot of noise, either, am I wrong about that? They sort of slither through the air, unbelievably enough.

Zephyr: _________ 🙁

Note to readers: I am going away for a few days to celebrate my mother’s birthday — see you all next week! Try not to get chomped on by a flying snake…
