Yesterday we spent the day worrying about the plants and especially the trees, many of which were bowed under the weight of the slushy snow. I went out periodically to shake them off, which may or may not have helped; in any case, it didn’t hurt.

Today the garden is filled with the sound of constant drips as the snow quickly melts. None of the trees seem particularly bothered by the snow, and only a few ferns seem the worse for the wear, although they were already on their way out.

I planted bulbs for next spring, which I’m sure I’ll forget about until they poke through the last remaining snow drifts in March or (ugh) April, as we say goodbye to one season and hello to the next.
