In theory we were supposed to have about ten thousand buttercups, but in reality we only have a few, which I attribute to the fact that some stray cats got stuck in the garden last fall right after I planted the (ten thousand) bulbs and dug everything up. (Sigh.) The ones that made it look great, though, and add some nice splashes of color to the late-winter garden.
