Adventures in the Rain Garden (Summer Fridays)

Today I didn’t have to go into the office, so I took the opportunity to spend some time with our crossvine (bignonia capreolata), which this year is flowering for the first time since we trained it across our pergola.

While I had the ladder out, I took some shots of the wisteria next door, which is threatening to strangle the entire neighborhood. I actually planted it a few years ago in the vacant lot next door, but it’s probably not going to be around much longer now that they’re fixing the place up.

There’s also a mulberry tree that’s gotten quite big. I’m not sure whether they’ll keep it or not.

Dante also joined me this morning, but unlike the plants, he wasn’t too happy about the rain.

It’s been a long time since the garden has been really soaked.

The Eskimo sunset seems to have stabilized after a rough few months.

One drop of water per needle of the Norway spruce.

It’s definitely too early to think that the heat waves are done for the summer, but it’s not too early to hope.
