Recently I went running through Highbridge Park, which traverses the eastern edge of Manhattan from around 155th Street all the way to the end of the island in Inwood.

I turned around in the 180s, though, because it was very cold. The park is being slowly being rehabilitated by the city — soon the bridge after which it was named will be reopened to pedestrians, so that you’ll be able to walk to the Bronx.

On the way home, I stopped to admire the tree shadows on the smooth blanket of snow.
