
I spent a good chunk of last year writing a book of liner notes for a box set of the complete recordings of Bedhead, the Texas band that was popular (in a very underground sense of the term) during the 90s. On Sunday, Salon excerpted a portion of the notes, which you can read by clicking through.

To read the full essay, which is included as a small (50 page!) book, you’ll have to buy the box set. Which I recommend, because Bedhead’s records have held up amazingly well; if anything, I think they sound even better now than they did twenty years ago. Or maybe it’s just that I’m able to hear things now that I couldn’t back then. In any case, here’s the site for the label. (The packaging is also perfect.)
