It had been a long time since a candidate I cared about won an election.

But somehow, despite the skepticism of the New York Times and the antagonism of seemingly everyone with more than ___ dollars in their bank account, our prayers were answered.

The weather was happy with the results, too.

All the skeptics are now asking, ‘but what can he actually do?’ in the same way, for the past twelve months, they were saying ‘does he have enough experience?’

He has the power and experience not to be the same mayor as the one who will soon be leaving. And the one before him, and the one before him. And definitely the one before him.

Maybe there’s no winning in the ‘second hardest job in the country,’ but how much worse can it get? (Answers to that question are welcome in the comments.)

There are other cities in the world that are doing amazing things. I’m thinking about Paris and Montreal and Barcelona.

New York City can learn from them.

Our city has awoken from it’s terrible slumber. Let’s hope the country will be next.
