Low Tide

On a recent morning, I went to the beach and discovered that it was low tide.

Many of the rocks and plants that are underwater at high tide were now exposed to the air.

I thought about what it would be like to live in this tidal zone.

Spending most of the day underwater except for a few hours.

When you are underwater, wishing to see more of the world.

And when you see the world, being surprised by its size and dangers. Was this what you imagined?

When the water returns, the relief of knowing that you can sleep again.
