I’ve read that campanula is considered an invasive weed in some parts of the world, but in our garden, it’s a star. We have several varieties, the first of which — with a smaller flower — starts blooming in the middle of May.
The ferns also continue to be a highlight this year.
The second variety of campanula — the most common type, with a bigger flower — has just started to bloom.
I don’t think I’ll ever quite get over the idea that a perennial plant can just die back to nothing (at least above ground) and then reappear the following spring, bigger and stronger than ever.
In so many ways, it seems like an ideal way to live.
