The World Is Chaos, But the Park Is Still Beautiful (Azalea Season 2026)

As far as the weather goes, it’s been a good spring in New York City: mostly cool, with only a few ‘global warming days.’

We could probably use a bit more rain, but overall, given the chaos of the world, the weather has felt sort of normal, in a good way.

The park is very beautiful, thanks to the azaleas that are dotting the landscape like psychedelic clouds.

I was describing to my therapist a sense of peace I feel when I’m in the park.

And he asked if there were ever moments in the rest of my life, particularly when I’m stressed out about something, when I can summon that sense of peace.

We’ve been talking about the idea of not only moving away from needless conflict and drama, but also limiting my exposure to people who for whatever reason don’t make me feel good about myself. Why spend more time than I need to with those who don’t like me and vice versa, especially when there are plenty of people who do like me and vice versa?

It’s an idea that seems kind of obvious in theory, but can be difficult to implement in practice.

There is a way to picture life as a metaphorical park filled with blooming azaleas. Or perhaps a search for this park.

And as the caretaker of this park, I need to be careful not to invite anyone in who’s going to cut down what I think is beautiful.
